Harlequin Falconcam Flies the Coop

Due to network security concerns, the Harlequin Falconcam will no longer be operating.

However, our resident falcons are still very much around and we have an active interest in their well-being. Several Harlequin employees are enthusiastic participants in the annual fledge watch to ensure the safety of the juvenile birds.

To continue following the progress of Quest, Skye and their future hatchlings, please visit the Canadian Peregrine Foundation site and click on the Toronto/Don Mills location.

Harlequin encourages anyone who wishes to learn more about peregrines, pledge support or discover what they can do to help this threatened species to visit the Canadian Peregrine Foundation at Peregine-Foundation.ca.

A couple of years ago Kendal crash landed in my front yard. Spooked when I came out the door, he jumped and fluttered about 3 metres then came to a halt and remained motionless for about 6 hours while we waited together for TWC to hospitalize the gorgeous raptor. I took a couple of pictures. one of which was used by the Toronto Star and the credit was given to the Peregrine Foundation. It’s good that Kendal is now with Earth Rangers going around educating kids. However. I feel dissed by the foundation and the Star for ignoring the dedicated service I gave this beautiful life. A whole day of protection for the injured as well, after the incident, I volunteered at Toronto Wildlife Centre for many months (ongoing really). Not a single mention of what a citizen did/should do… and stolen credit on my photograph. I’m sad today…

I saw Quest yesterday at her nest (March 11, 2016). As I was leaving, I saw another Peregrine flying overhead. Spring is here!

I am so sorry to see that the webcam is not on. I have watched quest from the time she was an egg and watch every year. I hope the security issues can be resolved and we will once again be able to watch these amazing birds! Thank you for the time you did give us!!

I have been in touch with Harlequin and the Peregrine Foundation. There is a chance that a webcam might be installed. This is not for sure, but I think donations to the Peregrine Foundation may help. If not for the webcam, the money would be used for a good cause (e.g. banding).

Thank you Marta 🙂 I hadn’t scrolled down to check comments for a while so missed you comment. I sure hope things will work out so we can all enjoy watching Quest and Skye as they raise their families!

Hi Pamela, I believe they are working on getting the webcam set up. Hopefully it will be working this week. I can’t wait to see if Quest and Skye have any eggs. They may have already started hatching.

    Hi Marta,
Thank you for letting me know. I am so excited to know they are going to put the camera back up!!! I have read on the forums that they have eggs. All the other peregrine webcams that I watch have had hatches happening this last week. I can’t wait to see Quest and Skye!
