6 Ways to Support Your Favorite Bookstore
If you’re a bookworm, you know that there’s nothing quite like browsing the shelves of your local bookstore. It’s a peaceful atmosphere that has endless possibilities as you decide what story you’re going to dive into next? We may not be able to visit our favorite stores in person just yet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still show bookstores some love with these 10 tips!
Don’t Forget Curbside Pickup
You may not be able to go in person, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still use your favorite stores as a resource for your TBR list! Look into the delivery and curbside pick up options for your local bookstore to continue to show your support.
Follow your favorite stores on social media to stay updated on everything from new releases to contests! Following a book store is a great way to stay updated on both local and worldwide book news and what your favorite authors are up to, not to mention any additional bookish swag you may be missing from your life, including tote bags, cozy socks and scented candles.
Preorder Books from Your Favorite Authors
Hearing about an upcoming book from your favorite author is an exciting feeling. After all, you know that in a few weeks you’ll be able to dive back into the words of someone who has already had such an impact on you. Why not also use that excitement to help out your favorite store by preordering the book through them? It shows both your excitement for this new read as well as your community.
Show Your Love with Gift Cards
Do you know someone with a birthday coming up? You may not be able to give a gift in person, but you can absolutely still send over a gift for those closest to you and support your favorite stores all at once. Sending someone a gift card is a great way to show that you are thinking of them, and who knows…maybe you’ll both discover a great new read that you can bond over!
Leave a Review
You have strong book opinions, why not share them? There are plenty of great ways to interact with the book community online, and leaving a review on some of your favorites on the book store’s website is not only a fun way to engage with the store and fellow local readers, but it also shows support to your favorite authors.
Attend Virtual Events
Whether it’s author chats hosted by book stores, video trivia nights about classic reads, or even an online book club, there are so many great ways local stores are engaging with their communities. Why not participate, it’s a great way to meet other bookworms, make new friends, and learn about exciting new books from the recommendations of others.
