How did you create the look and feel for the Tactical Crime Division miniseries?
TH: I took inspiration from ensemble cast television shows like CSI, NCIS, Criminal Minds, and Law and Order and approached it similarly. We wanted to highlight the fact that there is a crime solving team that works together and that team plays a big role throughout the entire series.
What research or preparation did you have to do before shooting the covers for Tactical Crime Division?
I researched the way these ensemble cast shows are promoted and advertised to the viewer. It is important that all the main characters are given their moment to shine. They all have their own story, but they don’t do it alone. It takes the team to solve the crime.
How was shooting the covers for this miniseries different from how you shoot a regular Harlequin Intrigue cover?
It is very different than a regular shoot. We usually have one or two people per cover, here we have most of the cast on a cover with the main character being featured on the top and members of the supporting cast on the bottom in another scene. The logistics of pulling this together is not a simple task as we have to be time and budget conscious. We shot all four covers in the same day, whereas I typically shoot covers by the month they’re published in.
