Linda Lael Miller on The Rancher’s Return by Kathy Douglass
by Linda Lael Miller, author of Cowboy Homecoming
Dear readers, I’m so excited to share my sixth and final Harlequin Special Edition recommendation: The Rancher’s Return by Kathy Douglass. It’s such an emotional story with all of the classic tropes you know and love.
This is Kathy Douglass’s fifth book and I must say, she’s a very exciting addition to the Special Edition line. Her Sweet Briar Sweethearts series has been so engaging and The Rancher’s Return is a wonderful addition to this heartwarming series!
After ten years away, Donovan Cordero returns to Sweet Briar to find out he unknowingly left behind a son. Kathy deftly handles the situation, giving equal time to Donovan’s desire to know his son and the heroine Raven’s anger and hurt at being left to believe he had died. This at the same time clashes with her happiness that he’s not dead, creating the perfect dilemma for her. As they navigate how they’ll move forward with raising their child—while trying so hard not to fall back into love with each other—Kathy’s ability to craft stories of emotional intensity is on full display. Trust me, you’ll be rooting for this couple while also wondering how exactly they’ll manage all of their conflicting feelings!
I hope you enjoy this story and all the others I’ve recommended over the last several months!
