Linda Lael Miller on Claiming the Cowboy’s Heart
by Linda Lael Miller, author of Just Kate
Another month, another recommendation! This month’s delightful Western romance is Claiming the Cowboy’s Heart by Brenda Harlen. This story is emotional and warm, showcasing Brenda’s talent for witty dialogue and chemistry.
Brenda truly excels at creating characters with depth. Liam Gilmore, the cowboy in question, is taking a chance on a new business venture away from his family’s ranch and opening an inn. This business is fraught with fascinating family complications that stem from his mother’s death and a rocky relationship with his father. He doesn’t want to add to that, but he suddenly finds himself falling for his new manager, Macy. Additionally, she’s a single mom to triplets who’s moved back home to be closer to her parents.
Their chemistry is sparkling, but at the same time, great care is clearly taken with the boss/employee relationship, as well. Though Liam is Macy’s boss, she’s the one with experience in running a hotel, which balances the power between them as he learns the ins and outs of the daily operation of his new business from her. It puts them on closer equal footing as partners at work, allowing them to more easily navigate their outside-work feelings for each other.
Overall, I really enjoyed how Liam fell for the triplets along with their mother, as well as the chemistry and wit between the hero and heroine. This was a heartwarming read that I hope you’ll enjoy!
