Giveaway! What Are You Looking Forward To This Holiday Season?

by Lori Foster, author of Close Contact

The holidays are different for everyone. Some people (like me!) love to get the masses together for a chaotic good time, while others prefer small, more intimate—and peaceful—gatherings. One thing I’ve noticed more and more is that our core groups are sometimes blood relationships, and sometimes they’re family created out of a closeness that goes beyond blood.

You find this theme a lot in my books. A core group of friends who have turned into family—that’s the basis for the Ultimate series and Body Armor series (one branches off the other). Close Contact, specifically, shows how people pull together just as an ideal family might, when none of them are truly related.

I gravitate to those themes from personal experience. My father, who has since passed away, was my stepfather in reality, but Dad in my heart. When he and my mother married, they blended their families—and gave me two of my siblings. Technically, I have an older sister, an older stepsister and a younger half brother. To me, they are just my siblings, period, no qualifiers needed.

As my nephews have grown, they’ve brought nieces into our orbit—along with great-nephews and great-nieces who aren’t in any biological way related. I love them dearly all the same. They’re family, plain and simple.

One reason I host all the holidays—and some gatherings “just because,” without the excuse of a holiday—is because I love getting everyone together. I want my family, young and old, to be very aware of their backup system, to know—now and forever—that they’re not alone. For me, that’s what family is about, whether your family members are actually related to you or not.

However you celebrate the holidays, I hope they bring you joy, contentment and lots of happy reading!

About Close Contact:

There’s no resisting a desire like this…

MMA fighter Miles Dartman’s casual arrangement with personal shopper Maxi Nevar would be many men’s fantasy. She seeks him out, they have mindblowing sex, she leaves. Rinse, repeat. Yet lately, Miles wants more. And when Maxi requests his services via the Body Armor security agency, he’s ready to finally break through her defenses—and protect her day and night.

Receiving a large inheritance has brought chaos and uncertainty into Maxi’s life. Her ex has resurfaced, along with lots of former “friends,” and someone is making mysterious threats. Then there’s Miles, who doesn’t ask for anything…except her trust. Pleasure is easy. Now Maxi has to give her heart as well as her body…or risk losing a man who could be everything she needs.

Thanksgiving will be quiet – my sister-in-law had her second knee replacement last week & it’s looks like she’ll not be getting out of rehab so I’ll spend the day with her (fyi she Loves Lori’s books). But all the family will be coming home for Christmas, so I’m looking forward to the crazy time with the three little boys (age 5, 3 & 1).
