Maureen Child Celebrates Her 100th Book!

by Maureen Child, author of Little Secrets: His Unexpected Heir

When my first Harlequin (at that time, Silhouette) Desire was released in 19-mumble-mumble, I was so excited. And now my 100th Desire is hitting the shelves, and the feelings are the same.

I started off my career writing historicals, mainly Westerns. Desire gave me the opportunity to write contemporary, fast-paced love stories that really opened up a new world to me. Through the years, Desire has evolved, just as I hope I have as a writer.

Our books have gone from Boy Next Door to Billionaires, but the basic premise of the line remains the same. To deliver a great book to the readers who count on us to make them laugh, cry and remember how it feels to take that mad slide into love.

Cover designs have changed. Writers have come and gone. Editors have moved from one line to another. But at the heart of everything, Harlequin remains the same. A publishing giant that understands the kinds of stories women want.

I’m fortunate to have an amazing editor, Stacy Boyd, who encourages me to try different ideas even when I do a terrible job of explaining what I want to do. For example, this book, HIS UNEXPECTED HEIR, my 100th Harlequin book. In this story, we see the hero and heroine fall in love in the past while they struggle in the present to rediscover each other, rekindle their love and build the future they once dreamed of.

So, thank you, Harlequin, for 100 books of love and laughter. Thank you Stacy Boyd and Charles Griemsman for the fabulous editing and the friendship.

Here’s to the next 100.

About Little Secrets: His Unexpected Heir:

Between duty, honor…and a baby! Only from USA TODAY bestselling author Maureen Child.

Six months. That’s how long Rita Marchetti has mourned Jack Buchanan. Yet here he is, alive, standing in front of her, perfect…and devastatingly sexy! Even more amazing is the former marine’s admission that he wanted Rita to think he’d died. But the two of them are about to become three and Jack is back just in time.

That baby Rita is carrying is his. Despite the pain he holds so close to his heart, Jack can’t walk away from his child. A marriage in name only would solve everything. Everything except a desire too deeply buried and too long denied…

I am so pleased that you have been writing such wonderful books that keeps me entertained through the darkest spots in my life. Reading your books can take me on a adventure and then nothing at the time bothers me or makes me cry over things that are happening in my life right now, as I am an older woman. Congratulations from all my heart. Living on a fixed income now I can no longer afford to read books from you or other authors, which makes me very sad- but you have been a blessing in my life in so many ways!Thank You Always & May God Bless You Always,Lillian Hegwood
