11 Essentials of a Bull Rider Hero + Sweepstakes!
In honor of the bull riders in our Harlequin Western Romance books, we (authors Heidi Hormel, Amanda Renee and Jeannie Watt) put our heads together and came up with a list of the essentials for our bull rider heroes. Be sure to read all the way through to the end and enter the Harlequin Bull Rider Sweepstakes, in partnership with Montana Silversmiths!.
1. Once a bull rider, always a bull rider
The men we write about caught the riding bug early and don’t let anything (other than a feisty heroine) get between them and their eight-second ride.
2. High fashion in low places
Is it the hat, the boots, the jeans or the chaps that make bull riders the best kind of hero? We know which we’d choose! 😉
3. Never backs away from a challenge or a threat
Any cowboy willing to face down a ton of muscle on the hoof is up for anything life (or his woman) throws his way. We know that because we put our bull riders through their paces.
4. A grin that lasts for days
A cowboy who can’t grin at himself (or grin and bear it) isn’t the kind of bull rider that any woman wants in her life. Right, ladies?
5. Dances like nobody’s business
Whether he’s scooting a boot or sweeping us off our feet, we want to dance the night away in a bull rider’s arms.
6. Gotta have swagger
Confidence is the only cologne a bull rider needs to win our hearts.
7. In it for the long ride
A bull rider gets thrown and gets back up and does it again. That’s what we love about him—he never gives up and never gives in.
8. Always ready to lend a hand
Our bull riders are always ready to pitch in and help out, from the babies to the pickup to the dishes to the mouse in the pantry.
9. Rode hard and put away handsome
A little sweat and dirt never hurt anyone, and on a bull rider, it just makes us fall for him harder.
10. Not often classy but always a classic
We don’t need a man who can wear a tux or play the stock market. Our bull riders know how to have fun and keep us happy the old-fashioned way.
11. He can fix anything, even a broken heart
Bull riders don’t run away when the going gets tough. He uses a gentle touch or a kiss to remind his girl that she’s the only one.
We (Heidi, Amanda and Jeannie) think bull riders are the best all-around heroes, but what about you? Have we included your essentials? What did we miss?
