My Secret Big Families

by USA TODAY bestselling author Tina Leonard, author of The Cowboy SEAL’s Triplets

Anyone who reads my books knows that I love families, and all the fun and the mess that goes along with them. I always wanted a big family, but lying in a hospital room after a surgery with a doctor telling my then-fiancé and my mother that it might be difficult for me to conceive looked like it might have been the end of the dream.

I believe I was pregnant two months later. Maybe less.

It took me a lot longer to become pregnant with the second child. In fact, we’d given up, and were about to give away the crib we’d used for the first baby. The morning we were about to let the crib go to a family who could use it, I took a home pregnancy test. My husband didn’t even hang around to see the results—we’d been down this road many times.

To my surprise, the test came up positive. I called my husband when he reached his destination—there weren’t cell phones then—and told him the news. We were wary, obviously, and I made an appointment with the doctor for a complete workup the next day.

It’s overjoying to find out you’re expecting another child when you’ve given up hope.

Still, we stopped at two, worrying about finances and other such things, as young couples do.

I guess I started growing families not too long after I began writing. These families I committed to paper, and they took over my life, in the best of ways. I wrote about multiples, I wrote about adoptions, and even long-lost family members.

But in all the time I’d written about families, I’d never done a series based strictly on multiples! I asked my editor if she’d be interested in the project, and Bridesmaids Creek was born (see what I did there)?  🙂

In the first book of the series, the heroine already has quadruplets. She thinks she’s doing fine after her ex-husband ditched her, but when Bridesmaids Creek hooks her a ranch foreman, and he falls for her babies, love isn’t far behind!

Did I say I love babies? Lots of them?

The final Bridesmaids Creek book is about wild child Daisy Donovan, who rides her motorcycle and makes a nuisance of herself in the town. John Lopez “Squint” Matthews isn’t weirded out by Daisy’s bad girl side—no, our SEAL thinks he’s the man to tame her! Rumor has it that Daisy will never be tamed, but Daisy has a tender heart that only John recognizes, and once again, Bridesmaids Creek works its charms on our unsuspecting duo!

Did you want a big family? Or did the baby-less lifestyle suit you better?
