Being Bad Never Looked So Good
by Gena Showalter, author of The Closer You Come and the Original Heartbreakers series
When I sat down to write The Original Heartbreakers series, I knew I wanted to draw from the humor of my other contemporary romances—Animal Instincts and Catch a Mate—while also drawing from my favorite aspects of my paranormal romances: the bond among a group of men who are bound by circumstance rather than blood; men with violent pasts who are tormented daily by demons of their own making.
Meet Jase, Beck and West.
These three met in foster care at a young age. They were abandoned by their families and often had to endure the worst kind of abuse. They grew into hardened, jaded men, and they cope in different ways.
Jase has spent the last nine years in prison for killing a man who hurt his friend. He’s rough. He’s tattooed. He’s guarded, and he’s damaged. He keeps everyone at a distance.
Beck sleeps around, never going back to the same woman twice. He’s lost everyone he’s ever loved, and decides if he doesn’t love, he can’t lose anyone else.
West is determined to punish himself for the sins of his past. He lives by a rigid schedule, the clock his main source of calm. The only time he makes for a woman is two months out of every year.
But each man has hope for something better, and together they move to small-town Strawberry Valley, Oklahoma, where they are determined to start fresh. But not one of these men is prepared for the Southern beauty who will rock his world.
When I first saw the concept covers for the Original Heartbreakers series, I was over the moon. Couples! Kissing! And wow, does the background capture the simplistic beauty of small-town living or what? I gave my thumbs-up approval so fast I left fiery tracks on my computer.
About The Closer You Come:
New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter introduces the Original Heartbreakers—three not-quite-reformed bad boys about to meet the women who will bring them to their knees
Just released from prison, Jase Hollister has one goal: stay out of trouble. Strawberry Valley, Oklahoma, sounds like the perfect place for him and his two brothers-by-circumstance to settle down and live a nice, simple life. But model citizen isn’t exactly this rugged bachelor’s default setting—especially when it comes to a certain hot-blooded Southern beauty…
Brook Lynn Dillon has always been responsible. Not that it’s done her much good. The down-on-her-luck waitress is broke, single and fun-deprived. Until Jase comes along. He is dangerous, sexy and tempting as sin, and the sizzling passion between them is undeniable. But can it melt her resistance? After all, the right kind of trouble might be just what they both need.
The Closer You Come is on sale March 31, and look for The Hotter You Burn on July 28 and The Harder You Fall in November!
