Montana Mavericks Celebrates 20 Years in the Saddle!

by Susan Litman, Gail Chasan and Carly Silver, Harlequin Special Edition Editorial Team

In 1994, Silhouette Special Edition released Diana Palmer’s Rogue Stallion, the initial volume in the Montana Mavericks series. This book kicked off a rich, romantic tradition of handsome ranchers and the amazing women they fall for. From Whitehorn to Thunder Canyon, Rumor to Rust Creek Falls, the gallant bachelors of Big Sky Country have lassoed our readers into lifetimes of love. The past twenty years have been pretty busy (and productive!) ones for our Montana men. Scandal, passion and intrigue have peppered the lives of the Mavericks from the very beginning, and that excitement is still in full force, even two decades after these hunky cowboys first galloped into our lives!

Now the Mavericks are back in Rust Creek Falls, the tiny town that’s home to the Traub, Crawford and Dalton clans, whose members fell head-over-cowboy-boots for their true loves in recent chapters of the Mavericks saga.

By the end of 2013, Rust Creek Falls has nearly been rebuilt after the Great Flood—and nearly all the single Traubs have been married off. But that hasn’t stopped the steady stream of young women still descending on the town months later, hoping to lasso their own cowboy! Luckily, there are still plenty of Daltons and Crawfords on the market—not to mention a few Thunder Canyon transplants looking for love. There’s no sign of the Rust Creek Falls Gal Rush letting up!

Montana Mavericks: 20 Years in the Saddle! kicks off in July in grand style with New York Times bestselling author Christine Rimmer’s Million-Dollar Maverick. We’ll also be revisiting some old favorites from the early pages of this ongoing series. Longtime readers may remember psychic Winona Cobbs and recluse Homer Gilmore, natives of Whitehorn, Montana. And a mystery swirling through town just might turn out to be a piece of long-standing Mavericks history! Julie Smith never talks about her past—because she has no memory before she awoke in a small New England hospital four years ago! Perhaps a very special cowboy can help bring her back to her roots in time for the holidays. Find out in New York Times bestselling author Rachel Lee’s A Very Maverick Christmas, out in December!

Harlequin Special Edition is proud to invite readers back home to Montana, where the Mavericks’ adventures began. Thank you for joining us for twenty years’ worth of laughter, tears and heart-pounding romance, and here’s to twenty more!
