Las Vegas Nights: Where love is the biggest gamble of all!
Here’s an excerpt to get you started:
“So, are we going to do this, or what?”
Wearing one of Fontaine Richesse’s thick white towels and an air of determination, Brianna McDermott stood confidently in the doorway to the hotel suite’s luxurious bedroom.
Chase Reynolds swallowed hard. Damn, she was gorgeous—five-feet, six-inches of curvy perfection. And Bri possessed a brilliant mind and a wicked sense of humor that not a lot of people got. They’d been friends for ten years. Collaborators for six months on a television pilot that Bri had written and Chase had directed. What happened between them in the next several hours would be either the best thing that had ever happened to him or the biggest mistake of his life.
“We just got here.” He shrugged off his leather bomber jacket and tossed it onto the back of the couch. In a white button-down shirt and jeans, he felt overly warm. Had the air-conditioning stopped working?
“You said this was necessary if I was to get over Reed.” Her blue-green stare grew merciless. “You said I needed an amazing weekend of sex.”
This morning at three, after listening to another round of ongoing woes concerning her ex-boyfriend, that’s exactly what he’d recommended.
“It’s time you moved on, you said.” She plucked a clip from her hair and tossed her head to make her mane of sun-streaked blond locks spill around her delicate shoulders.
“You said you were the guy to make this happen.”
He blamed the boast on lack of sleep and frustration. After Reed broke her heart almost a year ago, Chase had stupidly let himself become her sounding board. Her ex had commitment issues. Chase’s longest relationship had been a two-year long-distance affair with a supermodel. Bri believed she could gather insight on where she’d gone wrong with Reed by probing Chase’s relationship issues and getting to the bottom of why he had a hard time giving his heart and soul to a woman.
Chase should have known better than to let a TV writer for a character-driven police drama delve into his psyche. Her questions made him aware of ideas that had been brewing in his subconscious. They’d engaged in flirtatious banter from the moment they’d met. Neither one had taken it seriously. But during the last few months their provocative exchanges simmered with sincere undertones, driving his sexual tension upward. It’s why he’d proposed that she join him on his trip to Las Vegas. And now he needed to decide whether to fulfill the claim that he could rock her world or explain what was holding him back.
