Judy Duarte’s Reflections on The Fortunes of Texas

I love working on continuity projects, especially The Fortunes of Texas. There’s just something about Red Rock as a setting, as well as those amazing Fortunes and Mendozas, that make those books fun to write.

Whenever I receive the bible for a brand new series, I look forward to meeting my assigned characters and creating a romance that includes a few of the continuity plot points.

In my first Fortunes book, A REAL LIVE COWBOY, I told the story of J.R. Fortune and Isabella Mendoza. During a birthday party J.R. threw for Isabella, I mentioned that Javier Mendoza, Isabella’s brother had an amazing ability to sing and play the guitar.

Two series later, I was asked to write Javier’s story. What a treat to use Javier’s musical talent in MENDOZA’S MIRACLE and to write a romance for a character I’d established years earlier. If you’re a Fortunes of Texas fan, I hope you’ll pick up the latest series. I think you’ll like it just as much as the others.

Mendoza’s Miracle is available in print and ebook!

From the Desk of Leah Roberts
Review of Patient Case
Name: Javier Mendoza
Age: 31
Condition: Injured in Red Rock tornado—still hospitalized. Recovering nicely. Too handsome for a hospital bed. Too sexy for his own good.
Prognosis: Likely to cause racing pulse, sleepless nights and hospital gossip.
Course of treatment: Walk away, STAT!

The Fortunes and the Mendozas had been anxiously awaiting Javier’s recovery. Finally he was on the mend, and no one was happier than his nurse, Leah Roberts. She’d been his rock during the ordeal, but now she was having thoughts that were most unprofessional. She was losing her heart to her flirty, sweet-talking patient.

But did Javier also have a case of true love?
