Why I Write Romance: Elizabeth Goodard
Elizabeth Goodard‘s book Freezing Point will be published by Love Inspired Suspense in October 2011. Here is what she writes about her writing history.
I was fourteen years old when I started writing my first romance novel—on a typewriter, no less. I wrote twenty-five pages before I got discouraged, believing nobody would ever buy that story. Nobody would ever buy from me. Though it would be decades before I took up writing again and this time for publication, writing for Steeple Hill seemed like an unattainable goal. For me, I had to have the right story to catch an editor’s attention before ever sending a query. That’s why when my agent called me late on a Friday afternoon and asked me, “How would you like to write for Steeple Hill?” I could hardly comprehend his words before responding, “Of course, I want to write for them!” He’d sent my proposal only a few weeks before—but I was confident in the idea. Writing for Steeple Hill is like the door to a new world opening, and I’m ready for that adventure.
