Welcome to So You Think You Can Write!

Welcome to So You Think You Can Write – a call to new writers and a celebration of romance fiction! During the week of November 1-5, you will have an incredible opportunity to get to know Harlequin editors and find out what kind of stories we want to buy. You’ll also pick up tips on writing craft, the latest trends in romance, and how to get from opening page to a published book. You’ll hear from published authors who will share their stories of success, their work routines, and why they love writing romance.

Each day of the week, we are offering an exciting challenge to submit your work directly to the editors at Harlequin. We’ll be asking for your opening pages, query letters, story scenes and general questions, and responding the very next morning to a selection of submissions. And on Day Five, we’ll be sending out a call for everyone to submit their first chapters and a synopsis to us by December 15th, and we promise to read these submissions by January 31st.

Harlequin is always looking for new writers. Check out these statistics:

1500:     the minimum number of books published a year

750:       the minimum number of contracts offered a year

500:       the minimum number of authors under contract right now

4:           the number of books that need to be bought every business day

1:           You—our next author!

So don’t miss our jam-packed week of blogs, live chats, webinars, podcasts, fun, games, and more! Come to SoYouThinkYouCanWrite.com, respond to our challenges at UCanWrite@harlequin.ca, and ask questions.
