Harlequin Has the World Covered

by Birgit Davis-Todd, Executive Editor

One World. One Publisher

That pretty well sums up Harlequin Enterprises today.

We publish titles around the world in a variety of genres and formats including print, eBooks, audio books, manga and mobile phone downloads.  Print books are sold through bookstores, supermarkets, department stores and more.  We also sell all formats directly to consumers by mail and the Internet.

Our books appear in 32 languages in 115 international markets on six continents. Whew!

When you are published by Harlequin you have the opportunity to see your book travel the world.  That’s a wonderful opportunity for an author but it’s also a reminder that love is a universal theme.  A story published first in North America can be translated and enjoyed by readers in Paris, Rome, Tokyo and beyond!

Harlequin sells books under several imprints including Harlequin, Love Inspired, Kimani Press, MIRA, HQN, LUNA, Spice, Teen, Nonfiction and Gold Eagle.  We publish books in both series and single title formats.  Series titles are published monthly in mass-market paperback format under an imprint that identifies the type of story to the reader e.g. Harlequin Blaze.  Our single titles appear in a variety of formats (mass-market paperback, trade paperback, hardcover).

For more information on our titles check out www.eHarlequin.com It’s also the place to chat 24/7 with authors and readers. You’ll find our publishing guidelines along with podcasts, blogs and great articles on writing.

And don’t forget to visit www.tryharlequin.com for free downloads on over 16 books! Find your favorite series or discover a new one.

I hope you have enjoyed So You Think You Can Write and want to hear from you!

It truly takes a dedicated team of editors and translators and marketers around the world to make that happen. I remember an author couldn’t figure out where this one book was published, and she actually sent one of the copies to me to figure it out. It turns out it was her first title from Iceland!

And our overseas teams are always exploring new markets, so you never know where we will show up next.

(oh, and we’ve had confirmation we’re READ on all seven continents! Just not too many bookstores in Antarctica. :))

We truly are a worldwide company. And Mary-Theresa makes a great point–we are read on all seven continents. As for the bookstore…we are working on that.

I’m not surprised Harlequin is read on all seven continents, but it’s just mind blowing when you think about it. I know if I were holed up in Antarctica for months on end, I’d want to take my favorite Presents! It’d be a good way to keep warm. 🙂
