Imran Khan inspires Mills & Boon

From the Hindustan Times

Remember the cynical-about-love protagonist of Mills and Boon [Harlequin Presents in North America] who had all the girls swooning over him? The one who eventually serenades his lady love and together they write a love saga? It comes with no surprise that the publishers – Harlequin Mills & Boon – have decided to partner with Dharma Production’s next I Hate Luv Storys as they felt that chocolate boy, Imran Khan fits the bill perfectly for an M & B prototype.

Karan Johar, producer of the film confirmed the news: “Yes, we do have an exclusive association with Mills & Boon. They are coming up with an IHLS special edition, which is a compilation of all the classics. They felt a strong synergy between the theme of our film and a classic Mills & Boon romance,” he told Mumbai Mirror.

The tie-up will produce a series of eight books which will feature the story of Imran’s character from the film who doesn’t believe in love. The book will also have the cover of I Hate Luv Storys.

Johar believes that Imran Khan represents the quintessential Mills & Boon romantic lead because of his character in the film who is cynical about the power of love but eventually becomes a convert.

To create a buzz and excitement amongst the readers, the publishers have launched an initiative for them to meet Imran Khan.

Manish Singh, country manager for Harlequin Mills & Boon India Pvt Ltd, told Mumbai Mirror, “While there are certain universal traits in our heroes, which resonate across our readership base of 16 to 60 years, Imran Khan obviously has tremendous appeal amongst the younger generation.”

We Celebrated 60 Years All Year Long!

by Sulemaan Ahmed, Olga Kwak, Lori Meyers, Karen Queme, and Michelle Renaud

How do you celebrate sixty years of pure reading pleasure?  All year, of course!

And you’d better believe that we did—there were so many ways that we celebrated in 2009 that I had to enlist the help of several people to write this post.  Like all good families, we gathered together and put together a celebration of our sixty years in publishing that won’t soon be forgotten.  It took blood, sweat and tears, it filled our heads day and night, but ultimately, it was worth it.  It’s not every year you get to celebrate such a milestone, after all.  It’s hard to see how we’ll top this anniversary off, but I suppose our centennial is coming along…

And I’m sure you’re not entirely surprised.  After all, we did mention it (once or twice…).  In honour of the end of our celebrations, I’d like to take the time to show and tell you just how much celebrating we did.

Come along…

Their Harlequin Fantasy: $3 million, Ours? $4

by Aideen O’Leary-Chung, Digital Commerce Manager

Victoria’s Secret recently released the Harlequin Fantasy bra, the “ultimate fantasy gift”. It’s stunning and at Harlequin Enterprises, we appreciate the need for romantic fantasy. Heck, we supply plenty of romantic fantasy! But while both products promote romance, the difference is that our books provide the perfect romantic escape, while you’d be lucky to make any escape while wearing that bra.

Have you clicked on the link yet? Go ahead, we’ll wait.

Do you know how many books you could get for $3 million? At around $4 each, you could buy 750,000 books! That’s almost a year’s supply for our most avid readers! Now that is a Harlequin fantasy women could embrace.

To achieve the real ultimate fantasy this holiday, I’d say bring on that decadent dazzler from Victoria’s Secret, but bundle it with a number of romance books…you know, for when the chill—perhaps upon the arrival of the bill—sets in.

Underneath it All is Available Now!

And, speaking of lingerie, check out UNDERNEATH IT ALL by Jennifer Manuel Carroll and Kathy Schulz from Harlequin Nonfiction. Learn how to wear the right underthings to suit your body—and your style—for every occasion (and I mean every. These ladies have oodles of experience, and they thought of everything!)

For instance, did you know that “your undergarments can make or break your look: smooth T-shirt bras make that tight white T look like a million bucks; the right panties under tight pants will have people doing a double take (and not because you have visible panty lines); and shapewear can smooth out the lumps and bumps in your clingy cocktail dress.”

And don’t miss the November issue of InStyle magazine. Jennifer Manuel Carroll shares her tips on how to look younger. I bet it involves a bra-fitting!
