Celebrate 35 Years of Harlequin Special Edition with Author Christy Jeffries

Harlequin Special Edition

by Christy Jeffries, author of A Family Under The Stars

The ink was barely dry on my very first Harlequin contract when I got an invitation to join the online email group for Special Edition authors.  We’re talking about a longstanding series that has built and nurtured some of the bestselling authors out there and count Susan Mallery, Nora Roberts, Debbie Macomber, and RaeAnne Thayne among their ranks. And there was my invitation to be one of them. It was like being allowed to sit at the grown-ups’ table on Thanksgiving Day.

A few months later, I’d yet to complete my first official line edit when I actually met many of these talented women at the RWA National Conference in New York City.  I couldn’t believe that they were even nicer in person than they were online!  In the short amount of time I’ve been writing for Harlequin, I’ve already learned so much from these ladies…from marketing advice to cover art tips to playing a Chopsticks duet on the piano.

These Special Edition authors eagerly embraced me (both literally and figuratively) into an amazing sisterhood filled with encouragement and camaraderie.  When you add our brilliant team of supportive and savvy editors, it’s no wonder that this line has been going strong for 35 years.

RWA Conference in NYC 2015. I feel so tall standing between Judy Duarte and RaeAnne Thayne!

About A Family Under The Stars:

With two little girls and a demanding job, Charlotte Folsom’s plate is already full when she arrives in Sugar Falls. Hiking, fishing, rafting? Absolutely not her thing. But Chef Charlotte is on special assignment for her magazine, so she decides to make the best of it. Her river guide, Alex Russell, is rugged and hunky, and the camera loves him. For her, the jury is still out.

Alex has seen enough city sophisticates come to Idaho for his adventure vacations to know that Charlotte is not the woman for him. When a sudden storm leaves them stranded in the mountains, however, unexpected passion flares among the pines. The Mountain Man and the Magazine Mom? Unthinkable! Or just maybe inevitable…
