pearls headshotThe holidays are here again. The mornings are crisp and cool and, if we’re lucky, we might get a frosting of snow on the majestic fir trees behind our house here in Portland, Oregon. To me, Christmas means joy and beauty and sweet anticipation, a feeling of gratitude and reverence for life. Christmas is a time for getting close and cozy with the ones I love the most.

For Lucy Cordell in my latest Bravo family release, HOLIDAY ROYALE, this is a very special Christmas. It’s her first Christmas as an independent, self-sufficient woman. Due to a congenital heart defect, Lucy has been frail and in and out of hospitals for most of her life. But two years ago, she finally had the surgery that changed everything. Now, after battling her overprotective big brother and finally winning her independence, she’s living in a great apartment in New York City, making a whole bunch of new friends and pursuing the career of her dreams.

But something is definitely missing: a love life. Lucy’s not only unsophisticated, she can count on one hand the number of times she’s been kissed. This holiday season, she’s out to change all that.

And who better to help her learn about the mysteries of love than her dear friend and personal hero, Prince Damien Bravo-Calabretti? Not only is Dami about the most sophisticated man she knows, he’s also generous to a fault and always there when she needs him. They call him the Player Prince. The man knows how to make love to a woman. Really, he’s the perfect choice to teach her how to be a woman in every way.

On Thanksgiving morning, she shows up at his palace apartment to ask him her very special holiday favor. Dami may be reluctant at first. She knows he sees her as not much more than a child. But she’s not a child. And she knows what she wants.

And Dami has never been able to refuse her anything. So for them, this will be a truly romantic holiday season. It will be beautiful, perfect—a few festive weeks of passion and romance and then they’ll go back to being just friends.

But in this season of joy and miracles, anything might happen. And Dami and Lucy just might find themselves seeing each other in a whole new light. Because, first and foremost, this is the season of love.

Merry, merry Christmas everyone—and what do you love best about the holiday season?
