5 Strategies to Get (and Stay!) Lean & Sexy for 2013

Hands up if 2013 will be your year. You might not create world peace (or even peace between your two bickering teenagers), but you’ll attain fast and lasting fat loss to get lean and feel sexy as you confidently stride into swimsuit season looking your best.
You don’t need dramatic, unattainable resolutions to make fat loss a reality. Instead, small everyday choices help contribute to your long-term goals.
Don’t wait till the New Year to make those changes. Implement my favorite 5 strategies right now so you ring in 2013 as your leanest, sexiest year ever.

- Meet your sleep quota. As my friend Esther Blum said, “Sleep is the new sex.” It’s that important for fast fat loss and looking 10 years younger. Party down early and flip off those sitcom reruns to meet your 7 – 9 hour nightly sleep quota.
- Drink half your body weight in filtered water ounces. So if you weigh 150 pounds, that’s a minimum of 75 ounces per day. Make it simple: carry a Sigg or other canteen and sip throughout your day. The only time I don’t want you drinking too much water is during meals, when it can dilute stomach enzymes that break down protein. Otherwise, drink up!
- Up your fiber. Raw nuts/ seeds, legumes, berries, non-starchy-veggies, and avocado make meeting your 50-gram fiber quota easy. I also throw chia or freshly ground flax seeds into The Virgin Diet Shake for a quick, delicious fiber boost.
- 15 minutes and you’re done. Gyms are teeming with new members in January, but by early March it’s crickets as the dedicated few remain.
