It’s no secret that Harlequin releases a lot of romance each year. Roughly 180 titles per month to be exact. So it goes without saying that it was hard to narrow down a top five list of editor choices for 2012. However, we’ve managed to do it. It’s a diverse group of writers and romance genres.

A COLD CREEK REUNION by RaeAnne Thayne, Special Edition April 2012
This is a beautifully told reunion romance featuring a Cold Creek firefighter who is confronted with the woman who left him at the altar ten years prior—only now she’s a widow with two small children, one with Down’s Syndrome. This is a story celebrating true love and proving that sometimes, you can go home again!
BLAZING MIDSUMMER NIGHTS by Leslie Kelly, Blaze June 2012
Very romantic. It’s based on a Midsummer Night’s Dream and has dream sequences that are sensual and full of fantasy. Those dreams also come into play in the main romance, giving it a mystical feeling. This book gives readers a sense that nothing is as it seems, and anything is possible. As a bonus, Leslie did a nice job with it. It’s a strong book.
SLOW DANCE WITH THE SHERIFF by Nikki Logan, Harlequin Romance August 2012
This story made me absolutely melt! The heroine is city girl with intimacy issues, the hero is a sexy sheriff who feels responsible for his partner’s death. The only person he trusts is his new sidekick, Deputy, who is a big lumbering bear of a dog. They both have deep conflicts to overcome and Deputy is there along the way almost as the glue holding them together at times, and I cried my eyes out as they struggled through their conflicts. But this is by no means a depressing book – it is in fact so romantic and uplifting!
THE RANCHER’S SECRET WIFE by Brenda Minton, Love Inspired August 2012
It’s the story of a soldier who’s lost his sight who comes home to heal. And the heroine (who the hero secretly married before he went off to war) arrives in town looking for the hero. It’s angsty, and romantic, and you will swoon and cry and fall in love with both hero and heroine by the end of the book.
FLASH OF DEATH by Cindy Dees, Romantic Suspense October 2012
What made is so memorable was the powerful, sexy and emotional bond the hero and heroine form in Chapter One after he saves her from an assassination attempt. I will never forget the first chapter of this book.
