The Single, Free and Fabulous Life in Coogee Beach

by Fiona McArthur, author of Survival Guide to Dating Your Boss (Harlequin Medical Romance, September 2011)

The best part of writing this book was the chance to walk the beach and watch the fun lifestyle of this warm and friendly suburb with my writing friends. That made it easy to see how our Single, Free and Fabulous heroines lived and fell in love here. Every time I go to Coogee now I look straight to the house we decided our heroines lived in – and I smile.

Welcome to Coogee Beach, Sydney

My heroine, Tilly, is a midwife. No surprises there, but I had such fun with the way Tilly interacted with her friends in their shared house. I could feel the rock-solid support for each other between these dedicated young women and also the mischief. What went on in that house was a hoot and also way outside anything my hero, Marcus (such a serious obstetrican), had ever seen before. He couldn’t help but become aware of what he’d missed of life. Luckily our Tilly is determined to show him.

So welcome to Coogee and the girls at Hill Street. So Tilly’s flirty and free in a beachside suburb sun-blessed with sand and surf on her days off and a walk up the hill where she can catch babies when she works. Even better she shares a house with women who treat her like a loved sister. Ruby, Jess and Ellie are full of sometimes dubious advice and definitely ready to have loads of party fun – and maybe even fall in love. So a beach that’s full of gorgeously laconic lifesavers and more than a few dreamy docs who don’t know what’s good for them is the kinda place you’ve gotta love. The Single, Free and Fabulous girls do. They call it home. And they love to party. I know I can’t wait to catch up with Tilly and Marcus in my friends books. Hope you can join us.

If you’d like a preview of the series, catch my on-line read on the Extras page at harlequin.com and on millsandboon.co.uk. Starting September 12th a daily chapter is published for twenty days. And you can even comment. I’m a little nervous about that :)
