Hello Readers!
I’m Donna Hayes, Publisher and CEO of Harlequin Enterprises Ltd, and I want to welcome you to our new blog. The launch of the Harlequin Blog means we have another way to talk with our readers and we do hope you will share your thoughts and opinions with us! Come back to the blog a few times a week to learn about new releases, special events (like the recent Cedar Cove days that Don Lucey from our public relations department will be blogging about), posts from authors and editors, and much more, including secret publishing-house insider information (you’ll be the first to know!).
2009 is our sixtieth anniversary and we’ve been celebrating in style with a fantastic art exhibit in New York featuring the evolution of the Harlequin romance cover and a simply amazing author party in Washington. For sixty years we have provided women with the best fiction and romance in the world. And we have no plans to stop anytime soon.

Lovely authors at the Washington, DC party!
From L-R: Sharon Sala, Linda Turner, Maggie Shayne, Tara Taylor Quinn, Brenda Jackson
While we have been celebrating all of our established romance series all year long, we’ve also been busy launching brand-new imprints that cater to what women want today, tomorrow and always.
With Harlequin Nonfiction, we’ve provided phenomenal authors new opportunities to reach their readers, to build relationships that transcend the pages of their stories. For example, readers of Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove series love creating delicious recipes from the Cedar Cove Cookbook (much to the delight of their families, I’m sure!)
Harlequin Teen is a new line of books for young women. Our goal is to publish fantastic stories young women can share with their mothers, much like their mothers shared their first Harlequin romances with them. I invite you to try some of the Harlequin Teen books, like Rachel Vincent’s My Soul to Take or Gena Showalter’s Intertwined. I know that you’ll be passing them along to everyone you know. They’re just that good.
HQN and MIRA are also buzzing with exciting new releases in the next few months. We’re gearing up for A Creed Country Christmas, a brand new addition in Linda Lael Miller’s Montana Creeds series. Speaking of Linda, you’ll want to catch the trailer for her new McKettricks of Texas trilogy debuting right here. And if you’re more into mystery, Jason Pinter’s upcoming The Darkness will satisfy that whodunit craving. These are just some of the books we want to talk about!
As a special thank-you to readers who find us on our inaugural post, we have a contest! Please comment about any Harlequin book you have read and enjoyed and we will enter you into a draw for a copy of New York Times bestselling author Susan Wiggs’s Lakeshore Christmas. We’ll be giving away five copies of Susan’s heartwarming holiday tale. Comment with your name and the Harlequin book you read and enjoyed by October 23 and we’ll randomly select five winners to receive this wonderful hardcover book. Open to residents of the United States and Canada only. One entry per person. For full contest details, click here.
Thank you for joining us at the Harlequin Blog. Don’t forget to sign up for our RSS feed—it’s the quickest way to get our posts. We’re very excited to start the conversation!

Thanks sooo much, Donna and Harlequin too, for another fabulous way for writers and readers to “get to know you”!
I’m a huge fan of Tawny Weber and am now reading her Blaze COMING ON STRONG. I already read GOING DOWN HARD so had to back-up and catch Belle and Mitch’s story too!

Hi Donna!
For my birthday on Saturday, my husband gave me a Kindle 2. The first thing I downloaded was all of the Harlequin 60th Anniversary books! I couldn’t wait to dive in, and the first one I read was Rachel Vincent’s My Soul to Lose. Maybe I shouldn’t say read…it was more like devoured. Wow. It’s an intense read, and at the end, I was ripping through the pages. And then, I immediately downloaded My Soul to Take. Can’t wait to try it out! If anyone here hasn’t tried Rachel Vincent, My Soul to Lose is such a page-turner. Wow.

Please exclude me from the contest.
I just wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you for having a blog you don’t have to register first to comment on. The rebel blogger in me refuses to register so I often lurk and don’t comment on Harlequin blogs. This is a real treat.
Love the look, the classic books at the top. Very nice!

Congratulations on the new blog which I learned of thanks to @SmartBitches on Twitter.
I’ve rediscovered Harlequin recently after years away. Categories where my first intro to romance and I’ve come full circle (just read ebook “Tall, Dark & Filthy Rich” which sent me on the hunt for the others in the series…thank you Harlequin ebooks for having the older titles available!)
Also been enjoying HQN titles by Nicola Cornick…

Wheeee, we’ve launched! Happy dance at Harlequin Digital HQ!
@Kimber Chin — we actually wrote down in the planning stages “NO REGISTRATION TO COMMENT”, it was one of our musts this time and definitely a lesson from our other blogs! We’ve also managed to take away registration on I Heart Presents and the Paranormal Romance blog permanently as well.
So glad to hear we managed to tell people about new Harlequin stuff you hadn’t heard about before in our very first post! We have lots of cool news we don’t always have a place to announce…until now. Keep those comments coming!

I’ve been a fan of Harlequin for many, many years. Great new blog site!
Saw your tweet on Twitter and had to enter your terrific contest!
I’m currently reading: ‘Kept For Her Baby’ by Kate Walker and next will be ‘Christmas Angel for the Billionaire’ by Liz Fielding.
As a big fan of Harlequin books/authors, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to interviewing both Kate and Liz on my blog (and will be posting my reviews of their books very soon!)

Hello Donna and Happy 60th Anniversary Year!
Love the Harlequin Blog, yet another fabulous innovation from the publisher who is deservedly known as the Voice of Romance. Most of us grew up with moms and grandmoms reading Harlequins. A Harlequin (pilfered from my aunt’s shelf, of course) was my first romance read. What a thrill and an an honor to be part of the Harlequin family as an author.

Some of my recent favorites are:
The Baby Bond by Linda Goodnight
The Hero Next Door by Irene Hannon
Crescent City Courtship by Elizabeth White

Well this is just delightful! Beautifully done, and if titles are an indicator, I’m already loving this teen line.
Great job, guys, and I’m going to second Cheryl Wyatt with a big shout out of kudos to Glynna Kaye’s debut novel from Steeple Hill, Dreaming of Home. Enchanting little boy and totally to-die-for hunky hero.
Oh my stars, I’m smiling just thinking of it. And no, she didn’t pay me. It’s just that nice!
I’m looking forward to fun posts here and tagging it in favorites right now. Well. When I’m done talking, that is.

I love Debbie Macomber and Linda Lael Miller (Creed, Yarbro and McKettrick… all great reads), can’t forget Robyn Carr and her jugheads either! So many books to choose from at Harlequin.

Welcome to the Blogging world! I discovered Harlequin as a teen back in the 1960s and have been a devoted reader ever since. A few of my current favorite Harlequin authors are Kay Stockham, Holly Jacobs, Karen Templeton, Raeanne Thayne, Tawny Weber, Trish Milburn and Beth Andrews but I read, and enjoy, many, many more. I love the new Blaze historicals! Betina Krahn’s “Make Me Yours” was wonderful and Jacquie D’Alessandro’s “Touch Me” is on my tbr.
I just finished “His Secret Agenda” by Beth Andrews, another terrific story in her Serenity Springs series.

60 Years, no wonder thought they had been in my life forever. I got a free celebration book, CRIME SCENE AT CARDWELL RANCH by B.J. DANIELS, at the Battlefield Mall in Springfield, MO. Thanks for this great read.

It’s great to see a Blog like this. I’ll be sure to drop by often.
I’m been reading Harlequin books from my mid-teens..I’m 47 (I live in Barbados, so we started off with the Mills and Boons directly from England). Of course, the Silhouette books finally came to the island and the rest is history. I’ve been hooked since then. I’m honored to be associated with Harlequin…as a Community Host and author…but at heart I’m still the devoted reader who ends each night reading the latest from my favorite lines (SRS, Kimani, HI, LIH, HB, HP).

I love your blog, and have also been reading Harlequins since my teens… decades now! But my all-time favorite Harlequin is “The Best Things in Life” by Rita Clay Estrada. It is tiny, was published in 1986, but I love it and this is why — a child is kidnapped by her mother who doesn’t have custody and found by a woman in a small Texas town. The child’s father is located and he travels to Texas to claim the child, but he is a fancy soap opera star from New York and comes down with guns blazing to get his daughter back, and the two clash. When a hurricane moves in and strands the three of them on the woman’s farm in Texas for three days, he fights her simple way of life, and she makes fun of his celebrity life. Total City Mouse/Country Mouse. I love it. The entire book is basically the three of them stuck in this house with the wind blowing outside, they fall in love, but have to decide what to do now — she can’t leave her farm in Texas, but he was offered the lead in a new cop show in Los Angeles…what to do??? I love this book!

How cool! A blog dedicated to all things Harlequin! This is exciting, I think. And the site looks classy and fun. Congrats!
BTW, (I’m not entering the contest) but I’ve been recommending the TEEN books to my students and teen daughters of friends of mine, and they’re absolutely eating them up. I’ve already gotten an email demanding more!

I love your new blog. And congratulations on 60 Years! Here’s to another 60+!
I read around the Harlequin lines, some of my favorites being Intrigue, Blaze, Historicals, and the new Historical Undone line. Some of my favorite authors are Julie Miller, Cheryl St. John, Pam Crooks, Kimberly Raye, Kristin Gabriel, Cindy Kirk and the list goes on and on. I just finished Prairie Wife by Cheryl St. John. It was heart-wrenching, tender, and wonderful in true Cheryl St. John fashion! Yes, this book by Cheryl has been out for a few years, but that gives you an idea of how tall my TBR pile is!
Thanks for all the great reads. I’m hopeless. I can’t help adding to that towering pile!

I’ve always been an HQN person. Love those single-titles! But recently, the new Presents have garnered a lot of my attention. I love the changes such as the heroes who are still Alpha, but more true-to-life Alpha rather than over-the-top. I love the spunky heroines who hold their own up against these guys. I’m enjoying the fresh, new themes I see coming out of this line and the young voices like Kate Hardy, Nicola Marsh, and Ally Blake. My very favorite is Kimberly Lang. I adored The Secret Mistress Arrangement and The Millionaire’s Misbehaving Mistress. Can’t wait to read more!

There are so many good ones out there, but definitely Robyn Carr. She is wonderful.

I have read romance books since the 1970’s and still have a large collection of books. I also collect Betty Neels books and love the way you issue The Best Of Betty Neels series.
I am happy to see this blog, as nothing is more comforting than to escape into a good romance novel.

I have such memories of reading Harlequins. My mom ordered the monthly shipments for a long time and I would diligently check our mail box at the beginning of the month hoping the books had arrived.

Hi! I fell in love with Susan Mallery’s writing when I read THE SHEIK’S SECRET BRIDE. I so enjoy the humor, wit, and intelligence shown throughout. I couldn’t put it down and it’s the first book I ever saved to re-read (rather than passing it on to girlfriends).

Lovely to read this blog and see everyone here – it’s like a great big party. I’m loving Susan Mallery’s Lone Star Sisters and anything Susan Wiggs writes is always wonderful(but sadly I’m excluded from the contest.)

I’m a fairly new Harlequin reader of the last few years, with my favorites being the Nascar and American lines. The last Harlequin I read was Dorien Kelly’s The Littlest Matchmaker, and tonight I’m starting Heather Graham’s Unhallowed Ground to put me in a Halloween frame of mind.

Sorry to be late to the party, but how great to find everyone here. *G* It’s awesome that harlequin has a new blog.
My favorite lines are Americans and Intrigues. I just finished reading an American ‘The Sheriff of Horseshoe, Texas’ by Linda Warren. It was a great book with interesting twists and turns. Wonderful, unique characters that drew you into their world. It was definitely a page turner.

Wow, I’ve been trying for over a week to write a blog and wasn’t allowed on. I wanted to comment on a Harlequin book that I enjoyed reading. On three separate occasions over the last few years I have read BRENDA NOVAK’S book SNOW BABY and loved it just as much every time. The last time was by accident as it was included in a book with a different title, but once I discovered my mistake, I kept reading, anyway, and could hardly put it down. I like Brenda’s books so much, maybe I should just read ALL of them again

I love Harlequin, particularly the Presents and Superromance lines! Some of my favorite authors have come from Harlequin. In particular, one of the recent books I read by HQN was Victoria Dahl’s short ebook, The Wicked West. Sexy and satisfying!

Very interested in the new YA line, and have heard good things about Rachel Vincent but two of my favorite active authors continue to be Susan Wiggs and Jasmine Cresswell.
Also, just read a great review of a forthcoming legal thriller, Let Darkness Come by Angela Hunt. Can’t wait to read that!

Have just discovered Susan Wiggs and thoroughly enjoyed The Winter Lodge. Now I’ve ordered 3 more Lakeshore Chronicles books and can’t wait to receive this order from Harlequin. So many books to read and enjoy. Who could ever imagine a world without books and the many hours of pleasure they provide to us all?!

@Julie Miller — I checked with the Harlequin TEEN editor and they don’t have any inspirational stories for the line contracted yet, but if a strong story came along they are open to it.
Best,

Aw shucks, I wasn’t one of them
Thanks for the info, though. I had already read the blurb about Debbie so just kept skipping past it
